Robert “Gene” Warnberg, 88, of Iona, Idaho passed away at Parkwood Manor on Monday, November 21, 2016. He was born November 5, 1928 in Wilford, Idaho to Sigurd Konrad Warnberg and Eva Gussie Henricksen. He was raised in Parker and St. Anthony areas.
At 14 years of age, Gene stacked hay in Utah and Idaho. He worked construction and poured concrete at the Palisades dam. His work experience included painting cars in Pocatello, driving truck in Alaska. Worked for Richard Bowers out of Salt Lake pouring concrete in Nauvoo, Illinois and various LDS chapels in the USA. Gene also served in the United States Army.
On June 23, 1950, he married Rosella Elaine Hale in Malad, Idaho. He is survived by his wife and sons, Darrel Warnberg of Iona, Idaho and Erik Warnberg of Lafayette, Indiana. His brother, Sigard Ray (Donna) Warnberg of Walla Walla, Washington. He has four grandchildren, Rebecca (Jake) Miller, Joshua Warnberg, Nathan (Tish) Warnberg, Amanda (Justin) Robinson and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 in the Iona LDS 12th Ward Chapel (5169 Denning Avenue, Iona, ID) at 11:00 AM. The family will meet with friends prior to services at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 AM. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Center, and Abode Hospice Care for their compassion and care of Gene.
