LTC C.A. Archer USA Ret., age 82, of Arkadelphia, died on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at UAMS in Little Rock. The son of Jerome Adolphus and Mary Estella Cox Archer, he was born July 1, 1934 in Dierks.

LTC Archer was a retired pilot with the United States Army having served three tours in Vietnam. In Vietnam his aircraft was struck by enemy fire numerous times, and he was shot down once during his second tour. He was a distinguished military graduate of Henderson State University and attended numerous US Army schools including the Instructor Pilot and the Command and General Staff College. He received many awards and citations including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and Ranger Tab.

Charlie was a member of Arkadelphia Masonic Lodge #381 and attended Third Street Baptist Church. He worked for the Department of Human Services before retiring to enjoy hunting, fishing and gardening. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lily Jeter, Juanita Barnett and Lura Archer; and three brothers, Willis, Ruel and J.A. Archer.

Survivors are his wife, Martha Burns Archer; one daughter, Carol (Mike) Holland of Texarkana, TX; one son, Charlie (Linda) Archer of Arkadelphia; four grandchildren, Heather Hostetler, Ashley (Justin) Bean, Mason and Braden Archer; one sister, Imogene Graves of Dierks; and several nieces and nephews.
