He was born on Oct. 28, 1936, in Greensboro, N.C. and was raised in Burlington, N.C., a son of the late Allen David Moore and Anne Florida Morgan Moore.
Mr. Moore graduated from the Asheville School for Boys, Asheville, N.C. in 1955 and from Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Va. in 1959 where he was the only one in his class to letter in three sports – baseball, basketball and football.
He also graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Va. with a Masters Degree in Divinity in 1971. He was the assistant to the rector at St. James Episcopal Church in Warrenton, Va. from 1969 to 1972, and had the unique and fulfilling experience of living with 40 parish families during this period of time. He has participated as a Layreader and served in other capacities from 1973 to 2008.
He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army Reserve as an officer in the Infantry and has worked as a Realtor and land developer in the Warrenton and Culpeper areas since 1973. His developments include Sowego Forrest and Wesley Chapel Forrest subdivisions in Fauquier County and Wildwood and Woodbourne Estates in Culpeper County in addition to many smaller subdivisions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Moore Colgin and a brother, Samuel Wellborn Moore.
He is survived by his loving life partner, Marie Shirley Moore and a brother Allen David Moore Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.
