Tom was born on Aug. 27, 1930, the son of Andrew and Minnie Glenn Cox of American Ridge, Juliaetta. He attended the American Ridge School through eighth grade, followed by Kendrick High School, from where he graduated in 1948. He farmed with his father until he entered the U.S. Army in 1952 and was sent to Fort Ord, Calif. He served in the Korean conflict and left the Army in January of 1954.

He then attended the University of Idaho. Tom was a resident of Gault Hall when an arson fire took the lives of three residents from another wing in the hall.

In 1957, he left the university to work with his father on the farm, where he spent the remainder of his working life farming and keeping the books for the business. He also was a member of the National Guard until 1966. During Tom's time in the Kendrick area, he was active in the Lions Club, serving as treasurer from 1964 to 1975. He also was a life member of the Moscow Elks Club.

In 1999, Tom entered Juniper Meadows Retirement Home in Lewiston, where he lived until August 2014, when he moved to Boise to be closer to family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Thomas Neal; and his nephew, David Neal.

A private memorial service will be held in Boise followed by a committal service at American Ridge Cemetery near Juliaetta in the spring.
