Buddy as he was affectionately known, was born the 2nd of September 1934 in Durham, NC, one of four children to the late John Vernon Goforth, Sr. and Sally Mae Temple Goforth. He was associated with National Shirt Shop for more then thirty years and then with R and R Uniforms for twenty years. Buddy was an active member at Southside Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Deacon. Later he was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and Woodlawn Baptist Church.
The Goforth family will greet friends from 11:00 AM until 12 Noon, Monday, the 28th of November 2016 at Ellington Funeral Services. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 12 Noon in the Historic Morehead St. Chapel of Ellington Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. He is survived by his daughter, Danelle Dossett and her husband, Greg of Columbia, SC; two grandsons, John Tyler Dossett and Dylan Carter Dossett; one sister, Terry Cullingford and a number of nieces and nephews. Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Bullard Goforth in October 2014 54 years of marriage and two sisters: Ruby Crump and Shirley Maultsby.
