4 Oct 1988: Thomas A. Gerberich, 56, of Waukee died of a respiratory ailment Sunday at Broadlawns Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial in Woodland Cemetery. Mr. Gerberich lived in Des Moines most of his life, living briefly in California a few years ago. He was a security guard with Pinkertons Inc. and was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist. Surviving are his mother, Margaret Grimes of Waukee; and two brothers, Daniel Shuey of Des Moines and Carl William of Colorado Springs, Colo.
