OBITUARY---Rachel Minnie Bates was born on a farm one mile west of Valparaiso on September 1st 1873, where she grew to young womanhood, uniting with the Christian Church at this place when only fifteen years of age. She was married to C.W. McAllister on August 25, 1893. To this union was born two children, Everett and Iris. Mrs. McAllister had been in very poor health for two years and her death was not unexpected. Aside from her husband and the two children she leaves a mother, Mrs. Mary Bates, two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Bollwin, of Fairbury and Mrs. W.T. Craven, of Loup City; and an only brother, Nathan Bates, of Burwell.
