Born in Polk County, he was the son of the late Zennithan V. and Melinda Pace Waters. An Army veteran, he served in the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Landrum Mills for 38 years prior to retirement.
Surviving are three sons, Larry, Robert and Randall Waters, all of Shelby; one daughter, Delinda Anderson of Shelby; his companion, Dorothy Turner of the home; her sons, Bobby, Roger and Scotty Turner, all of Landrum; one sister, Margaret Argyropoulos of Maryland; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nephew, Doug Staton and Vicki Meredith, both of Winston-Salem.
