Onnie Mae Poplin Simpson, 87, of Norwood, passed away on Saturday November 19, 2016 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 22, 2016 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church at 2:00PM. Rev. David Lowe will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Simpson was born on March 17, 1929 to the late William Asbury and Ethel Thompson Biles. She retired from Cassie Cotillion after 35 years. She was a member at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two husbands, Willie B. Poplin and Daniel O. Simpson; six brothers: Hoyle, Grover, Melvin, Robert, Jason, and Carley Wesley Biles; and one sister, Nellie Norstand; step-children: Marie Huneycutt, Bryce, Max, and Ray Poplin.
She is survived by her son, Rodney Poplin and wife Cathy of Norwood; and daughter Diane Howell and husband Bob of Greenville NC; step-children, Faye Pope and John Poplin, both of Norwood; sisters, Mary Crisco and Gertie Beachum, both of Albemarle; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
