A child of God, Ella Frances Norman Rodgers moved home with her Heavenly Father on November 19, 2016, from Edmond Oklahoma. She was attended at the time by her daughter Sharon Rodgers Jackson and husband, Gary, and daughter Teri Lee Rodgers Ogle and husband, Kelly. Known to others as Ella, "Wife", Mom, Grama and Aunt Pooch, she is survived by her daughters, Toni Sharon Rodgers Jackson and husband, Gary, of College Station, Texas; and Teri Lee Rodgers Ogle and husband, Kelly, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and son Steve Rodgers and wife, Marci, also of College Station, Texas; as well as grandchildren Christopher Jackson and wife Merinda, Courtney Jackson McDaniel and husband Ethan, Ross Rodgers, Cassidy Jackson, Chandler Ogle, Sayre Ogle, Merritt Ogle and Avery Ogle; and great-grandchildren Penelope, Jude and Beau Jackson and Ellasyn (her fourth generation namesake) and Caraline McDaniel.Ella was born September 20, 1926, in Lubbock, Texas, to James Marvin and Mary Ella Norman. She graduated from Lubbock High School where she met the love of her life, Elton Ernest Rodgers. While Elton served in the Army of Occupation in Korea at the end of World War II, Ella began attending Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech University), Columbia University and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1947. Elton returned from Korea in 1946 and re-enrolled in Texas Tech while Ella taught second grade in Lubbock Public Schools. Ella and Elton were married on November 21, 1947 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lubbock. Upon Elton's graduation from Tech with a degree in Petroleum Geology, Elton and Ella agreed he would go to work with Skelly Oil Company. They first set up housekeeping in the oilfield town of Brady, Texas. Their moves as an oilfield family took them to Wamego, Kansas, where Sharon was born in 1951; to Amarillo where Steve was born in 1952; to Abilene and finally to Midland where Teri Lee was born in 1965. Ella taught elementary school for many years in the Midland Independent School District but her greatest joy came from caring for her family with wholesome meals, hand-crafted gifts and special birthday celebrations. Eventually the family was transferred to Oklahoma City. Ella and Elton retired from there in 1989. They moved to their dream home in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where they spent many happy retirement years in service to others. At the time of Elton's death in 2002, Ella and Elton had modeled a Godly marriage for their children for 54 years. Ella died two days short of what would have been the 69th anniversary of her wedding. Now, she and Elton can celebrate it together once again! The family expresses its deep appreciation to Tealridge Assisted Living Center and to Companion Hospice Services for their care and compassion during the past months. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
