He was retired co-owner of the Hoover Funeral Homes in Millersburg and Elizabethville. Dale was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed collecting and showing antique cars and traps. He loved to read and play cards.
He was a member of First UM Church in Millersburg, Susquehanna Lodge #364 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory AASR, Tall Cedars Forest #125, Zembo Shrine, American Legion #326; Moose Lodge #59, Millersburg Senior Center, Dauphin County Fireman's Assoc., NRA, National Trappers Assoc., Halifax Historical Society, Millersburg Ferryboat Assoc., Studebaker Drivers Club, boardmember of Millersbrug Area Authority and boardmember of Oak Hill Cemetery Assoc.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years Shirley Clark Hoover, a son Scott Hoover and his wife Sheri of Millersburg, a daughter Shelly Hoover Page and husband Michael of Lemoyne; two grandchildren Cole and Saloma, a sister Carolyn Underkoffler and her husband Phil of Lykens, a sister in law Rebecca Stine Hoover of Elizabethville and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother L. Richard Hoover.
There will be a viewing on Friday Nov. 25 from 9 to 11 am at First UM Church in Millersburg. Services will begin at 11 am with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
