ELIZABETHVILLE - L. Richard Hoover, 76, of 18 S. Callowhill St., passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at his residence.

He was born Sunday, April 5, 1931 in Berrysburg, PA, Son of the late Richard J. Hoover and the late Elizabeth A. Epler Tiffany Hoover.

He was graduate of Lykens Valley Vocational School (Berrysburg High School), Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove and the former Eckels School of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was retired co-owner of Hoover Funeral Homes in Elizabethville and Millersburg.
He was a member of Peace UCC in Berrysburg; Gratz Historical Society, Ashlar Lodge #570 F&AM; AASR Valley of Harrisburg; Tall Cedars of Lebanon #125; Dauphin County Fireman's Assoc.; American Legion #326; Moose Lodge #59; Keystone Knife Club; VFW Post # 6343; Berrysburg Rod & Gun Club; M&T Poker club; Berrysburg Fire Co; Reliance Hose Co.; 91st SRS; former president of Upper Dauphin Rotary Club and Paul Harris Fellow.

Rich was an avid snowmobile rider, four wheel rider, hunter when his oxygen levels allowed and enjoyed playing euchre.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years Rebecca Stine Hoover; a brother Dale Hoover and his wife Shirley of Millersburg; a sister Carolyn Underkoffler and her husband Phil of Lykens; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Peace UCC in Berrysburg on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 11 AM with Rev. Jeff Wagner officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Elizabethville. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 AM Saturday, July 14 at Peace UCC in Berrysburg.

Contributions may be made to his church 2nd & Chestnut Streets, Berrysburg, 17005 or to Medic 6, 466 W. Main St., Elizabethville, PA 17023.
