Alva Davis, 90, departed this life Dec. 30, 2006, to be with Jesus and his beloved wife, Josie, who passed Dec. 7, 2006. He was a beloved husband, dad and granddad. He was a carpenter, builder and loved working years at National Car Rental. Alva was a long-standing member of Alexander Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are three children, Juanita, Jarius & Renee; five granddaughters & two siblings. A private family gathering will be held at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive condolences today at 4060 Docklanding Road, Chesapeake. Due to illness, Alva and Josie have been apart for 18 months but we rejoice that, through their passing, they are united together forever. His daughter, Juanita, wishes to thank all those at Autumn Care, Portsmouth, who loved and cared for Alva and special thanks to each one at Odyssey Hospice who reached out after Mom's death to care for and support Alva and family to the end. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements.
