Retired DeKalb County Fire Captain passed away at his home in McDonough, Ga peacefully without pain June 22, 2010 after a long battle with renal disease. As some of you might know his mother passed away from renal disease also. After his retirement from DeKalb County, he couldn't stay sit idle so he went back to work with the city of Doraville as Chief City Inspector for a little over a year. Then we moved to Rome, Ga...there he also wanted to work again so he was hired as Chief of Security at Floyd Medical Center. He had a stroke in 2002 and never really recovered from some side affects...in 2003 he had 2 heart attacks, 2005 an aorta aneurysm, 2006 pacemaker-defibrillator and finally 2009 renal failure. He did dialysis for 8 months with no significant improvement..Bob decide on Memorial Day to stop dialysis..he was so tired and frail. At the end he was at peace with family and his God, said "I want to go home". So he did. My Bobby was a wonderful awesome husband and father. He told me he loved me and how pretty I was everyday for 17 years...some men could take a lesson from him. Bobby loved being a fire fighter...and loved telling stories about his "brothers' and experiences till the end. I will miss my husband and I am grateful to God to have put such a great man in my life.
