Funeral services for William L. "Boots" Nelson, 92, of Winnsboro, La will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2007 at New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Basco and Rev. Neil Fryer officiating and burial to follow at New Winnsboro Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Visitation will be today Jan. 3, 2007 from 5:30 – 9:00 PM at funeral home and 10:00 AM Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007 at New Zion Church.
Mr. Nelson was born in Winnsboro on February 2, 1914 and passed from this life on January 2, 2007 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Georgie Nelson and son: Tommy Nelson.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his Granddaughter: Carolyn Hayes of Shreveport, LA; two great grandchildren: Jason Hayes and Amanda Hayes of Shreveport, LA; Sister: Ruth Simmons of Bastrop, LA; two sister-in-laws: Edna Walker of Winnsboro, LA and Sadie Spruill of Baton Rouge, LA; one Brother-in-law: Niel Spruill of Tyler, TX; extended family: Kevin, Sherri and Logan Box; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: A. P. Magee, Walter Pervis, Kevin Box, Eric Smith, Terry Sharp, J. C. Winters.
Honorary Pallbearers: Horace Robinson, Charles Smith, and Jack Mucklereth.
