The family moved to Omaha in 1948 where he graduated from Central High School in 1958.
After serving in the Army overseas, he returned to Omaha became a hairdresser with his brother and began a career in fixing old home and apartment. Doug specialized in renovating and leasing of historic buildings throughout Omaha.
He was known for holding court in his past historical residences.
He loved to sail and travel throughout the world.
