Born in Adams Township. Parents: Bjorn Evenson and Anna Bjornson. Ben was Anna's son from a previous relationship, but was raised as Simon's son. From recent research, it appears that Anna may have been pregnant when she left Norway for America, and that the father, Bjorn Evenson remained in Norway, eventually marrying there.

Bjorn Knutson married Nettie Olson on 8/3/1885 at Little Cedar. Attendants were Johannes Olson Holstad and Simon Knutson.

Information from the Adams paper dated Thursday, February 25, 1932 includes Benjamin's obituary. The stone death date is 1931, but must be in error.

Benjamin S. Knutson was born November 6, 1861 in Adams township and died at his home three miles east of Adams February 18, 1932 at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 12 days. He spent his youth and early manhood at his father's farm and was baptized and confirmed in the Little Cedar Lutheran congregation.

In 1885 on August 2nd he was married to Nettie Olson and to this union were born 14 children, 12 of whom survive and two having died in infancy. In 1900 he moved to the farm he bought and where he lived until his death.

He was a kind and loving father and faithful in his duties to his home and family until health forced him to cease working. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and believed in the Atonement of Sins by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He will be greatly missed by his widow and the following children: three sons, Eddie, Joseph and Hilman Knutson and nine daughters, Mrs. R. H. Wood, Adams; Mrs. Olin Lillegraven, Beverly Hills, Calif.; Mrs. D. Halver, Shakopee; Mrs. Ivan Nelson, Sauk Rapids; Mrs. A. Krall, St. Paul; and Gladys, Minneapolis; and Mamie, Evelyn, and Ella, at home. The following sisters and brothers survive: Simon and A. S. Knutson and Mrs. S. L. Rogne, Adams; Mike and Knute Knutson and Mrs. Mary Tenold, LeCenter, Washington; three brothers, Lars, Jacob, and Lewis Knutson preceded him in death. He also leaves ten grandchildren: Virginia, Russell, El? and John Woods, Benjamin Lillegraven, Willard and Norris Halver, Allyn and William Nelson, and James Krall.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 20th at 12:45 from the home and 1:30 at the Little Cedar church, Rev. Breivik officiating. Mrs. Albert Knutson sang two beautiful solos "The City Foursquare" and "God Be With You." Ida Anderson played the accompaniment on the pipe organ. Interment in Little Cedar cemetery.

Information from Connie Ferris:
From baptism record located at St. Ansgar First Lutheran Church: The record shows his birth as Oct 15, 1862 which must have actually been 1861 since all the registration dates are July 1862. Bjorn and Anne were not married and the home baptism was done by Simon Knutson.
