THE TRIBUNE of 1 April 1941 carried the following:

Funeral of Mrs. J. E. Aranha. Mrs. James Aranha, whose funeral was held this afternoon, was the widow of Mr. James Edward Aranha, Deputy Surveyor of the Colony for 28 years. She is survived by four children, Mr. Wm. N. Aranha, Crown Lands Officer, Mrs. Charles Black and Miss Maud Aranha in Nassau and Mrs. May Dominguez in New York.

Mrs. Aranha, who was a teacher at the old Woodcock school prior to her marriage, lived a quiet life and after Mr. Aranha's death went to live in retirement at her home in Village Road.

Mrs. Aranha's funeral this afternoon was attended by a large number of friends.

The records of the Cemetery Department of The Ministry of Works show that Agnes Aranha was buried in the Eastern Cemetery on 1 April 1941 [Receipt No. 814] - i.e. in the government-owned cemetery, to the east of Lover's Lane, Nassau.
