WWI Private, Service No. 2916, 18th Battalion, 1st A.I.F
Wounded in action (hand, wrist, thigh) in Rouen France May 1917, recovered and returned to action where he was suffered a gun shot wound to the head on 20 Sep 1917 resulting in fractured skull and it wasn't until Dec 1917 that he was pronounced out of danger. After a period of convalescence he was returned to Australia, where he was formally discharged as medically unfit to continue active service.
