Obituary: Richmond Missourian, Richmond, Ray Co, MO: Mr. Alex Vanderpool, a former well known citizen of Fleming, died at the home of his son, Charles Vanderpool, in Kansas City, Monday morning, July 27, 1914, at about 5 o'clock, after an illness of several months of bronchial trouble. Alex Vanderpool was born 31st January 1848 in Iowa and was 66 years, 5 months and 26 days old when called to his reward. He was the son of Alfred and Comfort Vanderpool, and grew to manhood in his native state and soon after reaching his majority came to Missouri. He was a resident of Fleming for a number of years prior to the death of his wife which occurred about four years ago, and during his residence there, made many friends throughout southwest Ray County, who will regret to learn of his death. His remains were shipped to Orrick, Tuesday afternoon, and were taken to South Point and laid to rest. He leaves to mourn his loss two sons; Charlie of Kansas City an Alex Jr. of Pleasanton, Kansas; and four daughters: Mrs. Robert Early of Fleming being one. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Fannie Wells and a brother, Hiram Vanderpool.
