Peter August Anderson was born December 25, 1867, at West Totten, Norway, of parents Ole and Johannah Anderson. He was received in Holy Baptism as an infant into the Lutheran Church. He came with his parents to America when he was about 6 months of age. The family settled in Winneshiek County, Iowa, and remained there for about 6 years. After a short stay in Minnhaha County, South Dakota, they moved to Adams, Minnesota, which has been his home ever since.


He was confirmed on June 25, 1882, by Pastor J. Muller Eggen in the Little Cedar Lutheran Church and was united in marriage to Hattie Olson of Grand Meadow on June 2, 1895. They settled on a farm 3-1/2 miles north of Adams where they lived for fifty years. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson moved to Adams in July 1945 where they have since resided.


Mr. Anderson, who was 85 years old last December 25, has been in declining health for sometime. He passed away at his home in Adams early Friday morning, January 23.


He is survived by his wife and seven children: one daughter, Jessie, Mrs. H.A. Johnson of Webster, S.D.; six sons, Oscar, Ernest, and Edward of Adams; Arthur of Red Wing; Merrill of Minneapolis; Leonard of Cedar Falls, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Otilia Wignes of Austin; Mrs. Josephine Johnson of Adams; nephews, nieces, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 PM on January 26 at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Rev. M. L. Witte, officiating.


The Austin Daily Herald 1953-01-23 page 13: Funeral services for Peter A. Anderson, Adams, will be held at 1 p. m. Monday at the family residence and at 1:30 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Rev. M. L. Witte officiating. Burial will be in Little Cedar Cemetery with the Adams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


Cause of death according to the burial permit was uremia.
