A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Will and Rosie Sutton Dyer. He was an employee of Ray Ferguson Trucking Co. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucille Price, Edith Dyer, Jessie McLean and Geraldine Brooks.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Dyer Fisher of Arden; sons, Victor Dyer and wife, Tammy, of Cherokee and Jimmy Dyer of Arden; and grandchildren, Josh Messer and Jason Dyer.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. The Revs. Tom Harris and Charles Ray Ball will officiate. Burial will be in Lauada Cemetery.
