Walter attended O. M. McNair High School. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. He was united in holy matrimony to Essie Jean Collins in 1955. To this union, four children were born, Sherry D. (Robert) Wynn, Apple Valley, CA; Roderick D. Ball (who preceded him in death); Juanester Hunter, Decatur, GA; Chinester (Allan) Graves, Lithonia, GA; Delnor Harris (adopted son), Stone Mountain, GA.
Walter worked for the City of Belzoni for several years. Walter was a master plumber and was self-employed for many years. He moved to Stone Mountain, GA in 1999 where he rededicated his life to the Lord and Savior under the leadership of Pastor Kathie Johnson Wright, at New Jerusalem Words of Praise C.O.G.I.C. located in Snellville, GA; where he served faithfully as Head Deacon.
