On April 3, 1996, at the Humphreys County Hospital, Curtis Lee Ball was called to rest.

One of fourteen children of Walter Ball, Sr., and Mrs. Flora Jones Ball of Belzoni, MS. Three brothers preceded him in death, Robert Earl Ball, Henry Ball, and Johnnie Earl Ball.

He attended McNair High School in Belzoni, MS; and after graduation, Curtis attended Mississippi Delta Jr. College in Moorhead, MS. He loved sports and played basketball and baseball in high school under the leadership of Coach Charles Wilson.

Curtis leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Mrs. Bessie Lee Taylor Ball; four children, Curtis, Jr., (Helen), Vernetta (Patrick), Devon and Colynn, their mother, Mrs. Wilma J. Ball and three grandchildren; four step children, Shelby (Melissa), Kelvin (Pam), Kamia, Kweli and seven step-grandchildren; his parents, Mr. Walter Ball, Sr., and Mrs. Flora Jones Ball of Belzoni, MS; two sisters, Dorothy Washington (Frank) of Columbus, OH; and Brenda Martin (L. C.) of Belzoni, MS; eight brothers, Walter Ball, Jr., (Essie), Freddie Lee Ball, Jare Ball (Maxcine), David Tyrone Ball (Edna), Calvin Revon Ball (Dotsy) all of Belzoni, MS; Willie Earl Ball (Lerlene), Jimmie Lee Ball (Mae) of Chicago, IL; and Floyd Ball (Katie) of Columbus, OH; one uncle, Mr. Horace Tombs of Chicago, IL; one aunt, Mrs. Susane Tombs of Yazoo City, MS; two sisters-in-law, Sheree (W. L., Sr.) and Virginia (Toney); one brother-in-law, Jerry (Lynn); father-in-law, Mr. Robert White, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
