MRS. EFFIE POFFINBARGER BURIED AT VAN METER
Former Resident Died Last Week at Council Bluffs

Mrs. Effie J. Poffenbarger of Council Bluffs died at her home about nine o'clock Tuesday evening, Oct. 1st, after being in ill health for several years. She was 62 years old.
Effie J. Earp was born April 6, 1878 near Winterset, Iowa. On May 23, 1904, she was united in marriage to Harry O. Poffenbarger and has since made her home in Council Bluffs. To their union three children were born.
Early in life she joined the Methodist church and later became a member of the Church of the Brethren. In 1938 she transferred to the Assembly of God Gospel Tabernacle in Council Bluffs where she was a member until her death.
Her father and mother, her husband, three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure, two sons, Leonard S. of Burlington and Deward Dale of Mt. Pleasant, a daughter, Mrs. Melvina Caskey of 410 N. 6th St. Council Bluffs, three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Day of Onaga, Kan., Mrs. Frank Clearwater and Mrs. Fannie Johnston of Earlham; three brothers, Charlie Earp of Waukee, Joe Earp of Booneville, and Otis Earp of West Des Moines and four grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at Council Bluffs Thursday morning conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Gordon H. Millard. The body was then brought to Van Meter for burial in the Van Meter cemetery.
