YORKTOWN--Larry E. Green, 80, passed away on Sunday morning, Nov. 6, 2016 at Westminster Village. He was born on May 18, 1936 in Yorktown, the son of Clarence A. and Berdina (Luce) Green.
Larry graduated from Yorktown High School in 1954 and attended Ball State University. On Sept. 4, 1955, he married his high school sweet-heart, Rita J. Marsh, at Yorktown Methodist Church.
Larry's work history as a mechanical engineer included Overhead Door in Hartford City, Stolle Corporation in Sidney, OH, and Duffy Tool and Stamping in Muncie. After his retirement, he enjoyed working part-time for Lowes. He was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church, where he served as a deacon. Larry was previously a member and past president of the town board for Yorktown.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching all sports and took great pride in caring for his yard. Larry was a beneficiary of a heart transplant in June of 1999 and as a result was able to spend 17 more years enjoying family gatherings.
Surviving are his wife of over 61 years, Rita J. Green; six children, Tara Covault (husband-Mark), Mark Green (wife-Brenda), Scott Green (wife-Rhonda), Darren Green (wife-Liz), Douglas Green, and Charlie Kimbrough (wife-Missy); 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Donald Green (wife-Sharon) and Dennis Green (wife-Shirley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, with Rev. Jason Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Yorktown Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday or one hour prior to services on Friday.
