Mr. Cyrus O. Moore, son of Elizabeth and Nathan Moore, was born at Van Meter, Iowa, March 2,1864. He died at the hospital in Winterset Thursday, June 26, 1930, aged 76 years.

His boyhood was spent in the Van Meter neighborhood. He migrated to Sumas, Washington and later took a homestead there. During the gold seekers rush to Alaska in 1900 he went there and stayed a number of years. He returned to the old home in Van Meter in 1910 and farmed the old home place with his brother for a number of years. Later he moved to a farm north of Winterset and with his brother William and sister Mary made their home together. Two years ago they moved to a farm west of Winterset. Last October they came to town because of his failing health.

He entered the Odd Fellows lodge in 1882 and transferred his membership to Humas, Washington when he went there. He kept up his membership for more than forty years. He was a kind and helpful and accommodating neighbor and faithful and loving brother and friend. Months of suffering were assumed in his last illness.

Three brothers; Joshua of Sumas, Washington; Abram of Van Meter and William of Winterset, and two sisters, Mrs. Edwin Fisher and Miss Mary of his own home, besides many relatives and devoted friends have outlived him, with memories blessed.
