She passed away on October 31, 2016 with her children, Joel and JoAlice, by her side. She is now reunited with her husband of sixty-four years, Ernie, who passed away in June.
Elaine grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and attended the University of Nevada in Reno. It was there at a church dance that she met Ernie Weeks, and after marrying in 1952 in Salt Lake City, they began their lifetime of adventure.
Elaine spent many years as an elementary school teacher in Nevada, California, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, and Utah. She also earned a Doctor of Education from Brigham Young University in reading and became a reading specialist.
Her love of children and education continued to influence countless lives for good later in life as she took her passions and skills to serve multiple missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Ernie. They traveled the world together in those missions and in numerous vacations to diverse countries.
Elaine's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very dear to her, and they all carry special memories of her time with them.
Elaine is survived by her children, Joel (Diane) of Salt Lake City and JoAlice (Jack) Seybert of Johnstown, Colorado; nine grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and husband, Alvin Ernest (Ernie).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Historic Rock LDS Church, 413 North West Capitol Street, Salt Lake City.
Interment will follow in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 3401 South Highland Drive (1450 East), East Millcreek.
