Gwendolyn E. Weger, 91, passed away on November 1, 2016.

She was born July 17, 1925, in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Arthur B. Sinclair and Lora A. Weger Sinclair Mills.

Gwen was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed becoming a grandmother. She loved spending time with her family more than anything. She loved the holidays, cooking, and family get-togethers which always ended with family games.

She was a long-time member of the First Missionary Baptist Church, Flat Rock, Illinois, where she served as teacher of the Adult Women’s Sunday School Class for over thirty years. Faithful in her service and attendance until time and age contributed to a move to Brookstone Assisted Living.

On July 21, 1945, she married Martin Glenn Weger and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1987.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and a granddaughter, Ashley Rene Weger.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Julie Weger, Visalia, California, Tom and Kaye Weger, Centralia, Illinois, and Joe and Shawnee Weger, Baytown, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew and Tiffany Weger, Visalia, California, Nick and Kristina Merrick Weger, Washington, D.C., Kristina K. Weger, Washington, D.C., Adam Weger, Jarreau, Louisiana; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Max, Evelyn, and Aubrey; sister, Laura J. Snider, Casey; niece, Sherri Butcher, Casey; sister-in-law, Phyllis Meeks, Robinson, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held at the Flat Rock First Missionary Baptist Church from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6 and the funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery, Flat Rock, Illinois. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Missionary Baptist Church, Flat Rock, Illinois.
