Bruce Alan Gunstra, 70, of Lafayette, passed away at 6:52 am, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at his home.

Born July 1, 1946 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Henry and Ramona (Goldsberry) Gunstra, Jr. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in 1967 While at Northwestern University, Bruce served as captain of the football team, where he played offense and defensive line. Bruce was selected as All Big Ten and competed in the East West Game, and the Hula Bowl.

After graduating Bruce served in the Army Reserves and worked for National Homes Corporation where he managed plants in California, Texas and Indiana.

Bruce married Diane Linda Berrettoni on December 27, 1969 in Shaker Heights, OH. She survives. Bruce then founded and was president of Gunstra Builders. He enjoyed riding horses and especially his horse, Cash, playing racquetball and later pickle ball, and snow skiing. His greatest joy in life was his family and being a grandfather, and was known as “Pop”, by his grandchildren.

Surviving with his wife, Diane Gunstra, is their daughter, Erinn Mosher (husband: Scott) of Carmel; brother, Mark Gunstra (wife: Dottie) of Lafayette; and his grandchildren, Austin and Caroline Mosher, of Carmel. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Cowboy, who lead Bruce and his horse on trail rides.
