Dora "Gertrude" Crooks Thomasson, 84 years old of Independence, Louisiana, formerly of Baton Rouge, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Gertrude was born on Thursday, September 22, 1932, in Oberlin, Louisiana.
Surviving are husband of 65 years, Warren Anthony Thomasson; daughters & sons-in-law, Carol and Bob Pyron,Gayle and Al Busch Mechelle, and Tim Buckles; sons & daughters-in-law, Larry and Marcia Thomasson, Mark and Christine Thomasson, Danny and Stacey Thomasson; sister, Tommye Ruth Halphen; grandchildren, David, Martye, Martha, Jennifer, Clay, Nicole, Erica, Honea, Tom, Michael B., Michael, John, Nicholas, Terry, Lee, Kyle, Brett, Brittney, Bella, Sarah, Louis, Cade, Christopher and Jillian; also survived by 23 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Matthew Crooks and Lela Fuselier Crooks; son, Patrick Wayne Thomasson; brother, Marshall Paul Crooks.
Friends will be received Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana. Visitation will resume on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until services at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Monday, November 7, 2016 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
Interment will be at 2:00 pm in St. Dominic Catholic Church Cemetery, Husser, Louisiana.
