Working for DuPont Rayon Company and living in Old Hickory, Davidson County, Tennessee, he was 31 years old and married when he was in an automobile accident on Harding Pike, Williamson County on February 1, 1936. He died of his injuries the same day at Saint Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Davidson County and was buried two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery.
