He was born June 6, 1933, in Peoria to Harold J. and Catherine M. Timmerman Carr. He first married Carol J. Strunk on Feb. 12, 1955, in Tiskilwa. She passed away in Orlando, Fla. He then married Marianne Schwerer Gregg in Peoria. She passed away in Peoria.
Surviving are four children, Kathleen Peck of Springfield, Ill., Kelly( and Greg Groucho) Marks of Chillicothe, Kevin Casey (and Elizabeth) Carr of Peoria and Kerry (and Curtis) Baum of Morton; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia (and Phil) Hannon of Lake Bluff, Ill., and Colleen McLinden of Peoria; one beloved aunt, Madeline Snedden of Peoria; and several cousins.
He was a former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was a retired union plumber working out of Plumbers Local 63 for 52 years, where he was a member of its executive board and JATC.
He was a Korean War Navy veteran.
He was past commander and lifetime member of VFW Post 2602 in Peoria Heights.
A lifetime member of Peoria AMVETS and Peoria American Legion. He had memberships at Chillicothe Rec Club, Radnor Rod and Gun Club, Whitecap Drifters Boat Club and Escapees RV Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved RVing.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Rev Stephen Barch officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery will military rites.
Memorials may be made to Oncology/Hematology Association of Central Illinois or to American Heart Association.
