Kenneth Albert William Fritz Brunscheen,74, of Wyoming, Iowa died Thursday night, January 28, 1999 at St. Luke's Hospital at Cedar Rapids, Iowa following a sudden illness.
Kenny was born October 6, 1924 at Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Herman E. Sr. and Alma Hintz Brunscheen. He attended country school near Wyoming, Iowa, and graduated from Wyoming High School in 1943. After
graduating, he helped his dad on the family farm and on June 18, 1946, he married Lorrene Christiansen at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. After their marriage, they made their home on a farm south of Wyoming, where Kenny farmed most of his life. Along with farming, he ran a corn sheller and in the early 1950s began the Brunscheen Grain Company, hauling grain for area farmers. They moved into Wyoming in 1973. Kenny was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church of Wyoming, where he served as church chairman for six years and sang in the church choir for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Lutheran Men of Mission and a member of the Jones County Lutheran Brotherhood Service Branch #8662. Kenny was involved in and donated his time and energy to various community projects such as chairing the fund raising committee for the Wyoming Museum, finding funding for the Wyoming Public Library and lending a helping hand to the Wyoming Fair Board and Christmas City Celebration.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Lorrene; two daughters, Sharon (Bill) Gruber of Marion and Patricia (Gene) Andresen of Oxford Junction; two sons, Gary Brunscheen and friend, Mary Jo Dickey and Alan Brunscheen, both of Wyoming; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Herman Brunscheen and Donald Brunscheen, both of Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents,one sister, Leona; and two brothers, Oliver and Everett.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday afternoon, February 1, 1999 at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, with the Rev. Timothy Miller officiating.
Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, Iowa. Friends called at Hayden Funeral Home in Wyoming on Sunday, January 31 from 2-7 p.m.
Casketbearers were Don Christiansen, Eugene Brunscheen, Rick Brunscheen, Michael Calloway, Douglas Sterner and Duane Wendt. Honorary casketbearers were Paul Saunders, Timothy McPherson, Dale Petersen and Paul Huston.
