Death also listed as 16 Jun 1822. Joseph is the son of Peter Wickwire and Patience Capel. Joseph held the rank of Pvt to Captain during the "French and Indian War", he fought in the release of Fort William Henry,Capture of Fort Ticonderoga,at Mount Independence and the Battle of Bennington on 16 Aug 1777. With the rank of Capt. he lead a company of men under the command of Ethan Allen.

Joseph married Miss Martha Story on 13 Jul 1758,she being the daughter of Stephen Story and Mary Emerson and they moved fron New London,CT. to Bennington as one of the first settlers of the new community of Bennington where their children were reared:
