Lorenz Windholz is the younger brother of John Windholtz (1829-1890). Their parents are listed in Die Herzoger as Andreas Windholz and Martianna Riedel. However, the Russian census gives their parents as Andreas (1797-aft. 1857) and Anna Maria ? (1800-~ 1853). Anna Maria died after the 1850 census and before the 1857 census so her surname is not known.
Lorenz and his children with their families probably left Herzog, Russia for the USA in late 1892. His son, Matthew, listed Dec. 8, 1892 as his arrival date on his naturalization papers. But Lorenz may have been delayed and arrived later. See his first wife's page for more information.
