Mr. Cooper was a member of Lashmeet Freewill Baptist Church and a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He lived in the Lashmeet area most of his life. He was a carpenter and coal miner. Upon retirement, he started a security service which he enjoyed very much. He had been ill since an automobile accident in Aug 2011. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Berline Bowling, Joann Smith and Virginia Burnett; and two brothers, Ethan "E. A." Cooper and John Lewis Cooper.
Survivors include three sons, two daughters, 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services Friday,17 Feb 2012 and burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton where military honors will be conducted by the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
