Ballston Spa—John D. Grenelle, 87, a life long resident of the Town of Milton, died about 10 o’clock last night [19 Oct] at the old Grenelle homestead west of Rock City Falls, where he was born. Death came after a short illness.

Mr. Grenelle, one of the most active members of the Rock City Falls, M. E. Church was born September 27, 1840, and was a thrifty farmer during his life. He always was interested in church work, becoming a member of the Methodist Church at Rock City Falls at the age of 18 years.

During his life work in the church he has held nearly office of the church, being a class leader and form over the pas 50 years a trustee of the church.

He leaves, besides two sons, Edward A. Grenelle of Rochester and Alvah J. Grenelle, who resides on the homestead; a daughter; Mrs. Lillian Baumes, of Rock City Falls; five grandchildren, Alice and Virginia Grenelle of Rock City Falls, Mrs. C. J. Kurslake of Rochester and Harold Baumes and Carl Baumes of Rock City Falls.

The funeral will be Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock a the late residence, the Rev. Elmer J. West, pastor of the Rock City Falls M. E. Church, to officiate. Burial will be in the family plot on the homestead.
