Howard Tucker was born June 8, 1931 in Alcester, SD to parents Clarence and Carrie (Finn) Tucker. He died October 25, 2016 in Alcester, SD at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 18 days.

Howard graduated from Alcester High School. He started working for the Union County Highway Department at the age of 17. He was inducted into the United States Marine Corp in 1952 and served his country in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned to Alcester where he resumed his job at the Highway Department. Howard ran motor graders for 25-30 years and helped build many area roads. His most vivid memory was from the winter of 1969 when he plowed roads for 21 straight days due to the blizzards. Howard retired in 1994 and continued to live in Alcester until the present time. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many trips to area lakes and reservoirs.

He is survived by three children, Sally Dozier and husband John of Great Falls, MT, Danny Tucker and wife Roxanne of Canistota and Dennis Tucker of Sioux Falls; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Alcester United Church of Christ. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
