Congestion of the Liver Causes the
Demise of Abraham H. Landis
____________________

Abraham H. Landis, died early Saturday morning of congestion of the lungs at the Washington House, of which he was proprietor. Mr. Landis was born in Montgomery County, sixty-nine years ago and was a descendant of a Mennonite family. Twenty years ago he came to Harrisburg and engaged in the hotel business. Subsequently he returned to Lancaster and then to Carlisle, where he managed the Florence House for a short period. Returning to Harrisburg he took charge of the Washington Hotel, Walnut and Cowden Streets. A widow and six children survive. They are Harry, clerk at the Bolton House; Edward and Charles, Wilkes Barre; Mrs. Percy G. Ledig, Race and Paxton Streets, and Misses Mary and Annie, both unmarried and living with their mother at the hotel. Mr. Landis' funeral will take place tomorrow morning at ten o'clock.

Funeral services will be held over the remains of Abraham H. Landis at 10 o'clock this morning at his late residence, Washington Hotel, Walnut and Cowden Streets, and will be conducted by Rev. T. J. Leak, of Grace M. E. Church. The ball-bearers, chosen from among his many friends, are Messrs. Jacob Hess, J. A. Townsend, John Arnold, B. F. Atchinson, Christian Gohl and Mr. Miller. Interment in Harrisburg Cemetery.
