She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of 1937, and attended local business colleges. Mary was employed as a secretary by the State of New York at the state campus for over 12 years and retired in 1978, and previously worked for the Mohawk Paper Mill for four years. She was a former member of the Colonie Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was an amateur artist and a member of the Colonie Art Guild. She and her late husband Bob had resided in Port St. Lucie, Fla. from 1985 until 1996, where she was a member of the Holy Family Church.
Survivors include 5 daughters, 1 son, 2 step-daughters and 1 step-son. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and step-great-grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her granddaughter, Amy Law; her siblings, William McGrath, Catherine Cox, Edward McGrath, John McGrath, Harold McGrath and Francis McGrath.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Geoffrey Burke. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Contributions to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home in Latham.
