David "Jim" Tilley

Obituary
Born in Homestead, Florida, Jim was the son of David L. and Marie (Gibbs) Tilley Sr. Jim married the love of his life, Carol Laura, on June 29, 1950 at the South Rockwood United Methodist Church. He faithfully served his country with the United States Marine Corps for over 16 years. Jim worked for over 30 years as a Technical Writer for Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1986.
Jim's involvement were many: he was a member of the South Rockwood United Methodist Church, the Rockwood Lions Club, Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 1562 in South Rockwood, V.A. volunteer in Allen Park and Detroit with over 20,000 volunteer hours, Marine Corps League in Wyandotte, Wyandotte Honor Guard, School Board President for Airport Community Schools and council member in the Village of South Rockwood, just to name a few.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, Carol, his loving wife of the past 66 years; children: Lynda Elliot of South Rockwood, David M. Tilley of South Rockwood, Nancy Cobb of Land O' Lakes, Florida, Daniel (Kim) Tilley of South Rockwood and Susan (Bill) Clark of South Rockwood; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grand children; as well as his siblings: Caroline (Jim) Leady of Trenton, Gerald (Gail) Tilley of Stuart, Florida, Margaret (Kenneth) Gaynier of South Rockwood and Anna (Sid) Stumpmier of Carleton. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Blossom Knope, a brother George Tilley and a brother-in-law Chuck, Knope.
