GLADE SPRING, Va. Mike Rouse, age 61, departed from this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, and entered the Gates of Heaven to be with Jesus forever more. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. Mr. Rouse attended Highpoint Baptist Church.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Paul Quinton Rouse; and a infant brother.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred Rouse of Glade Spring; two daughters, Lisa Saunders of Glade Spring and Torie Atkins and her husband Ryan of Amelia, Va.; three sons, Chris Rouse and his friend Tina, of Abingdon, Michael "Pete" Rouse and his friend Tracy of Abingdon, and John Manas and his wife Nancy of Amelia; granddaughters, Jessie Dixon and her friend, Aerien of Bluefield, W.Va., Miranda Crusenberry and her friend Robbie of Saltville, Va., Ashlan Frye and her friend Wayne of Abingdon, and Chantel Widener of Abingdon; two great-grandchildren, Jessee Michael and Tivis of Bluefield, W.Va.; one sister, Helen Reedy and her husband Roger of Glade Spring; six brothers, Junior Rouse and his wife Linda of Glade Spring, Jim Rouse and his wife Gail of Glade Spring, Glen Rouse, and his wife Tonnie of Jonesborough, Tenn., Larry Rouse and his wife Janie of Meadowview, Va., Roger Rouse of Glade Spring and Rick Rouse and his wife Cheria,of Meadowview; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, in the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. David Critcher and Pastor Greg Blackburn officiating. The committal service and interment will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at Widener Valley Cemetery in Glade Spring. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Chris Rouse, Michael "Pete" Rouse, Shannon Rouse, Danny Rouse, Travis Rouse and Dennis McCracken. Honorary pallbearers will be Rob Crutchfield, Brian Hockett and Jay Hancock.
