He served with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, "Cacti Forever", 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV. Adam's unit was in the "Battle of The Bloody Boot" in Darlac Province, South Vietnam.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), the Purple Heart for his combat wounds, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
