NOTE: The picture uploaded to this memorial is in the physical possession of my aunt Marlene St. Clair Conklin who is the granddaughter of Martha Sigler St. Clair. My aunt could not remember if the woman in the picture was Nancy Keysacker or Annie Sigler and upon investigation of dress styles, and attributing the youth of the woman in the picture, the picture is Annie Belle Sigler, taken sometime towards the end of the 1890s. The dress is from the 1890s. Nancy Keysacker was nearing the end of her life in the 1890s. All those who have uploaded this picture to their family trees have it with the wrong person.

Annie Sigler was the daughter of George W. Sigler and Nancy Keysacker, and sister to Martha Elizabeth, Willard Monroe, Mary E. and Sonora "Nora" Ellen (aka Aunt Doll) Sigler.

Annie married Gilbert Sinclair, her sister Martha's husband William's cousin, on August 15, 1905 in Crawford County. Annie and Gilbert lived on a farm in Birdseye and Gilbert is buried in Mentor Cemetery.

Annie was the mother of Raymond Newton (father Charles Newton), Hazel Roxie St. Clair Wright and Arnold E. St. Clair. Annie and Gilbert also raised their granddaughter, Uleva Fuesler, daughter of Hazel. Hazel had married Albert Wright and they were living with their Wright children, not far away from Annie.

Annie filed a bastardy suit against Charles Newton and he was ordered to pay her $300 or spend one year in jail. Charles chose to go to jail. [The Democrat, English, Crawford County, Indiana, Thursday June 19, 1902]. Instead, Charles escaped from jail (allowed to run at large by the current Sheriff John Gilliland who was sued, paid Annie $150 and compromised the case) and fled the state of Indiana. Charles married Lana Walls and they lived in Peoria Illinois. Charles was the brother of Nora Sigler's husband George.

This is the sister of my great-grandmother, Martha St. Clair.
