Richard C. Allen, 49, of 52 Factory St., died early Wednesday morning at University Health Center of Vermont, Burlington, Vt., where he had been a patient since Sept. 3. He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Bosco Church, with the Rev. Francis Menard presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home. A parish vigil will be at 7:30 p.m.

Surviving are his wife, Debra; four sons, Richard C. Jr. and Todd, both of Malone, and Scott and Michael, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three grandsons; his parents, Charles and Ruth Allen, Malone; four brothers, Sandy, Charles Jr., Stephen and Terry, all of Malone; three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Bonnie) Lamb and Mrs. Samuel (Mary Lou) Yeddo, both of Malone, and Mrs. Michael (Suzanne) Avery, Rocky Mount, N.C., and several nephews and nieces.

Born in Malone on Feb. 24, 1942, a son of Charles and Ruth Revette Allen, he was a 1961 graduate of Franklin Academy. He was also a graduate of the Montreal Barber School. He married Judith LaBounty in July 1961. He later married Debra Brownell on Nov. 8, 1985.

Mr. Allen served with the Army. He was employed with J.J. Newberry Co. and McCarthy Packing Co. for several years. He was later employed as a barber and self-employed painter.

He was a communicant of St. John Bosco Church and a past president of its Catholic Youth Organization. As a youth, he received the eagle award for scouting and served as an assistant scout master. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
