Kenneth "Kenny" David Cowart, 72, of Jesup, died Friday, October 21, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family. The Wayne County native was a member and former interim Pastor of Spring Grove Free Will Baptist Church, and while in retirement, served as Interim Pastor of several local churches. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, retired Rayonier employee, and member of IBEW Union. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and winning people to the Lord. He was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Bertie Cowart.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Janice Ratliff Cowart of Jesup; daughter and son-in-law, Tina (Mack) McLain of Jesup; sons and daughter-in-law, Ken (Kim) Cowart and Kevin Cowart of Jesup; brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith (Sharon) Cowart and Billy (Marilyn) Cowart of Jesup; 11 grandchildren: Brittanie Chappel, Kevin Cowart, II, Elena Sloan, Deacon Cowart, Chandler Cowart, Kalynn Johnson, Lily Cowart, Maggie Cowart, Kenley Cowart, Jonathan Cowart, and Caleb Cowart; 3 great grandchildren: Calania Sloan, Desmond and Devin Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2016, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harris Nix and Rev. Kipp Manning officiating along with American Legion Post 311 presenting the American Flag. Interment will be in Offerman Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Larry Christian, Jerry Brooker, Shelby Hart, Kevin Cowart, Kevin Cowart, II, and Robert Sheffield. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Spring Grove Adult Sunday School Classes and special caregiver, Rachel Stevens.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2016, at the funeral home.
