Harold (Hal), Merrell Petersen, 85 years old, born July 24, 1931 in Elwood, UT to Mary Lavon Wagstaff and William Petersen, died October 21, 2016 in SLC UT. Hal married in the Logan LDS Temple on September 5, 1956. Hal served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark. He was a veteran who served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army and was proud to serve his country. Hal was well known for his buffalo and loved the outdoors. He gave countless hours of service to his church and community.

Hal is survived by his wife; their children; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Noon. Viewings will be held Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, prior to the funeral from 10:30-11:45 a.m. All services will be held at the Nibley Stake Center, (3701 S. 450 W. Nibley, Utah). Interment at Riverview Cemetery in Tremonton, Utah.
