MORDACIA / MORDECAI TIPTON

NOTE the spelling on the stone is MORDACIA TIPTON.
(We received a suggested edit in June of 2021 for a correction to the spelling of Mordacia Tipton to Mordecai Tipton by Al Francis #47570263 that we wish to honor as that is probably how his name was originally spelled. The way Mordacia/Mordecai's name is spelled in one source mentioned below and as a Biblical name is Mordecai. Spelling was not important in the United States at the time Mordacia/Mordecai was living which may have led to variant spellings. Both spellings are now listed in the first name space to honor him and the relatives that put up his cenataph on their family member's stone. His memorial will come up when searched with either spelling.)

We found information on Mordecai Tipton (1724-1795) in DESCENDANTS OF EDWARD TIPTON, a working file by Mary Lou Cook, updated 23 December 2017. She shares this file to help Tipton descendants with their research. The stone at this gravesite closely matches Mary Lou Cook's research. There is a little difference in the spelling of Mordacia/Mordecai.

Edward, Jonathan, William, MORDACIA, and William Sr. Tipton are listed in the same order on this stone with the same dates or close to the dates as Mary Lou Cook has listed in her working file:
Edward, the father, had Jonathan;
Jonathan had William;
William had MORDECAI; and
MORDECAI had William Tipton, Sr.
