Marvin was born in Round Rock, Texas to Milburn and Julia (Smith) Wright in 1925. Marvin enlisted in the Army as a Private in June of 1941 at the age of 16 and specialized in Ordnance. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands. In May of 1942 he was captured in the Philippines and taken as a P.O.W. to Tokyo Shinjuku POW Camp. Marvin was liberated in October of 1945 and released from the Military in February of 1946.

Marvin married twice, first to Gladys M and second to Glenice L and did not have any children. He traveled the world as an oil field inspector. He died in February of 1981 at the Long Beach Veterans Hospital in Long Beach, California.
